As 2019 comes to a close, we’ve been reflecting on the year that’s passed and the most memorable moments. Something that’s been front and centre is Australia’s struggle through severe drought.

For those of us living in cities, it can be hard to comprehend the everyday impact of drought on those doing it tough in rural and regional communities. This extends to families and small business owners who rely on sales in their local shops, not just those working on the land. The ripple effects of the drought run deep throughout these communities and there is now a way to help – through #buyfromthebush!

The brainchild of Grace Brennan, who lives with her family on a farm near Warren NSW #buyfromthebush encouraged people to purchase their Christmas gifts from shops in country towns to support them through the drought. In a number of weeks, the campaign gained tens of thousands of followers and has since provided an influx of business to rural shops and boutiques.

Although our Sefiani team is based in Sydney, some of our employees were born and grew up in country NSW. From areas like Cowra, Wellington, Bathurst, Parkes and Forbes, our family and friends are struggling to hand feed stock and keep local businesses alive.

So as a team, we decided to forgo the usual gifts for our clients, of champagne and Christmas hampers, to support #buyfromthebush. The result? These gorgeous Christmas baubles from the Yama Ganu Gallery in Moree. Originally designed in WA, the baubles represent the rich culture of our land, its history and its people.
