Sefiani lends support to Australia for UNHCR as global refugee crisis continues

Strategic communications agency Sefiani is set to continue a seven year relationship with Australia for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency’s national partner for Australia, to support fundraising activity for UNHCR’s emergency protection of people fleeing conflict.

Robyn Sefiani, Managing Director of Sefiani said: “The global refugee crisis is deepening and raising awareness and funds to support refugees is now more critical than ever. Our teams at Sefiani and sister agency Kite passionately support the cause of refugees and we look forward to helping Australia for UNHCR shine a light on the issue to inspire Australians to take action.”

Australia for UNHCR’s annual World Refugee Day Breakfast event in Sydney is one of Australia’s flagship events marking World Refugee Day, and will be held just days before the UN Refugee Agency releases its annual report about the ongoing global refugee crisis.

Meanwhile, the unaccompanied children appeal has been launched in response to the record numbers of children fleeing conflict alone, without parents or family. In just one year, UNHCR has registered more than 112,000 refugee children as ‘unaccompanied or separated’. Funds donated to the appeal will be specially earmarked for UNHCR to provide critical services such as child counselling, child-friendly accommodation, trained carers, safe play spaces, access to education, and family-tracing services.

Tickets to the World Refugee Day Breakfast in Sydney can be purchased here, and donations to UNHCR’s Unaccompanied Children appeal can be made at unrefugees.org.au/childrenalone or by calling 1300 361 288. Gifts over $2 are tax deductible.
