Helping Hamilton Island’s kids save the reef

Hamilton Island’s kids have a voice, and they’re making themselves heard when it comes to taking care of their backyard – the Great Barrier Reef.

Sefiani helped tell their story by travelling to Hamilton Island with The Huffington Post to speak to the kids who live on the island. Through the government funded Reef Guardians program, schools like Hamilton Island State School are taking a proactive step in changing the attitudes and behaviours of the next generation.

The kids are being taught about the damage occurring around their home, in the hope that next generation will take better care of the reef.
